Paper Monica Rosén Memorial Lecture: Evidence-Informed Teaching in a World of Uncertainty: Strengthening Trust, Use, and Understanding 1: Umeå University, Sweden; 2: Evidence Based Education, UK Presenting Author:Over the last 15 or so years in England, there have been significant moves from both policymakers and practitioners to promote 'evidence-informed teaching'. Research can and should inform classroom practice, at least at the level of principles. For example, understanding how memory works, how ideas connect, the importance of retrieval and spacing, the limitations of working memory and how we can overcome them, the importance of teachers' subject knowledge, and of students feeling seen and respected, are all things teachers should understand. But teaching is complex and there are not simple, generalisable recipes for effectiveness, nor is there evidence to support generalised use of specific techniques. While there is evidence that these changes have been well received, at least by some, not all are on board, many have only partial understanding of key ideas, and there is limited evidence of systemic change. We still have work to do. Methodology, Methods, Research Instruments or Sources Used . Conclusions, Expected Outcomes or Findings . References . | ||
