European Research Council Funding Opportunities for Education Researchers

The European Research Council (ERC), set up by the European Union in 2007, is the premier European funding organization for excellent frontier research. The ERC's mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, based on scientific excellence. Since 2007, ERC funded more than 18 500 projects and over 10 000 researchers. More than 200 000 articles were published in scientific journals. Many important prizes were awarded to ERC grantees, including 15 Nobel prizes.
The aim of this ERC session is to provide information about the ERC’s funding opportunities and encourage researchers to apply, with a particular focus on the education research community. This workshop will introduce the different funding schemes at the ERC and will focus on the three main investigator-based grant schemes (Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant, Advanced Grant). The session will include essential information about the ERC such as, e.g., the nature of the different calls, eligibility, principles of the evaluation process, and panel structure. “Tips and tricks” will be given on how to draft the B1 and B2 parts of the proposal, choose descriptors and panels, and what to focus on when preparing for an ERC interview.
Participants will have the chance to ask questions during the Q&A. Furthermore, ERC grantees will give testimonies about their own journeys of securing and implementing their ERC-funded projects (to be confirmed)
