A LEAST-SQUARES METHOD FOR THE COMPUTATION OF OPTICAL SURFACES

A new methodology is presented to design an optical system of one/two optical surfaces (reflector/lens) that transfers the given emittance of the source to the desired illuminance at the target. These optical design problems require an optimal mapping that satisfies the energy conservation and laws of geometrical optics. We calculate the optimal mapping using a least squares algorithm.
