The idea of the panel is to discuss the role of the academic publication process and publication strategies from the perspective of different stakeholders. Obviously, publications have become key for the development of individual research careers. But how to measure research quality, and the quality of publications? How to account for truly innovative research opening new fields relative to broadening and extending existing knowledge? How do the career perspectives in place affect research strategies? Which recommendation should be made to researchers? To the extent that knowledge is a public good to society, how will individual incentives provide for efficient investment incentives? How can research organizations contribute to efficient outcomes? What role can or should scientific journals play? | ||
