Ownership defines who holds power, whose voices are heard, and which values guide organizations. Yet, the dominant shareholder-centric model is increasingly criticized for its inability to address ecological crises, social inequality, and long-term resilience. Against this backdrop, this panel explores how alternative ownership models, such as steward ownership, cooperatives, or foundation-owned enterprises, can enable more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable forms of value creation. Bringing together perspectives from governance research, organization theory, entrepreneurship, and sustainability studies, the session discusses the normative, practical, and systemic implications of reimagining ownership. Through an interactive 60-minute format combining a scholarly-practice dialogue and audience engagement, the panel critically examines both the promise and pitfalls of ownership reform. It aims to foster cross-community exchange between WK ORG, WK NAMA, and WK TIE to inspire new research directions on the role of ownership in sparking responsible innovation and shaping the future of business. | ||
