Keynote 1: TE2024 opening and keynote speech

Opening ceremony and speeches for TE2024

Dr Adam Cooper will open the conference and invite the following special guests to speak to the assembled delegates:

Prof. Nigel Titchener-Hooker (Professor of Biochemical Engineering), Dean of Engineering Sciences, UCL.

Prof. Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti (Professor of Climate and Resource Security), Head of Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy.(UCL STEaPP)

Dr Adam Cooper, Chair of TE2024 and Associate Professor of Engineering Policy at UCL STEaPP will then give the opening speech in place of the planned keynote from Chi Onwurah - the Labour MP and former Shadow minister for Science, Innovation and Technology - who had to withdraw from the event due the surprise announcement of a general election in the UK held on 4th July.

At the end of this session those presenting posters at TE2024 will get 1 min to pitch their poster to the conference.

Buses taking delegates to the Gala Dinner at the IET Savoy Place in London will leave at 1645 from outside One Pool Street . There is no organised transport back to UCL East - see the email sent Thurs lunchtime for details. Either take a taxi via Uber or Gett (for a Black London Taxi Cab) or come with some TE staff (Adam and Carla at least) via the Underground (walking to Embankment station, taking the District Line (green) West towards Westiminster - change at Westminster to the Jubilee Line (Silver) East bound to Stratford. Feel free to make your own way to the Gala Dinner if you prefer. Please aim to arrive there by 1800.
