Session Abstract

The interactive workshop UUX(+X) in practice is a continuation of the successful series UUX in practice. It aims to raise awareness of the relevance of needs and values in the corporate context. In this sense, the perspective of usability (U) on effective and efficient use and user experience (UX) with its focus on meeting users' psychological needs will be extended to include the perspective on the needs and values of employees of companies (+X). In addition to the users of digital services and the customers of companies, the focus is now also shifting to the technology creators. They need a human-centric mindset in the company so that they can design a positive user experience of digital products and services. In order for this to succeed in practice, the workshop raises awareness of the importance of the needs and values of employees and their impact on the success of the company. Keynote speeches help to define values and needs and to demonstrate their relevance for companies. Subsequently, the participants work out needs and values that are important to them. In order to transfer these findings into the context of the companies, the participants work interactively according to the method of needs profiles. First, the needs and values are built metaphorically using Lego® bricks to make the rather abstract concepts concrete and tangible. Then, needs and values personas are developed. They allow an insight into the motivations of value- and needs-oriented ways of working. Finally, we will discuss together which attitude should be present in the companies in order to make needs- and values-based working possible.
