The guide is distinguished from other existing guide in a number of ways. It is written from the perspective of concerns and interests of communities in African countries. Additionally, the guide recognizes and is deliberate it accommodates the right of women and communities to evaluate prospective LSLBI and provide or withhold their consent to the LSLBI or particular aspects of the LSLBI proceeding. The guide provides step, by step guidance on land governance, human rights and equity considerations of each stage of the LSLBI, with a focus on communities.
