The development of archival documentary heritage is related to the realization of its own historical, cultural and social values. This study follows a logical sequence from theoretical analysis to empirical research. In the theoretical analysis section, we analyze the motivation for the development of digital narratives of archival documentary heritage from the aspects of policy, technology and media. In the empirical research section, after researching the current situation of the development of archival documentary heritage in China, we found that most archival institutions have the problems of a single narrative approach, lack of narrative technology, unsound narrative standards, and lack of publicity and promotion in the process of developing digital narrativization of archival documentary heritage. Subsequently, this study proposes four optimization strategies for the development of archival documentary heritage, namely, optimization of narrative mode, synthesis of narrative tools, unification of narrative standard, and enhancement of publicity and promotion, and constructs a narrative framework for the development of archival documentary heritage based on the digital narrative theory, which explains the objectives of the organization of archival information, mining of archival content, and visualization of results in the process of the development of archival documentary heritage, and provides a clear explanation for the development of digital narrative. The framework explains the organization of archival information, the mining of archival content and the visualization of results in the process of archival documentary heritage development, and provides feasible suggestions for the application of digital narrative to archival documentary heritage development.

This study seeks to unravel the connotations and influencing factors of nonprofit utilization of digital resources of ancient books in preservation institutions, laying a solid foundation for enhancing the efficacy of ancient book digital resource services. Interviews were conducted with three sets of audiences: the providers of ancient book digital resources, the users, and policy makers. Integrating the grounded coding results, the 3E theory, and the MOA framework, we defined the essence of nonprofit utilization of digital resources of ancient books and established a theoretical framework for its influencing factors. We discovered that the concept can be decomposed into three dimensions: economy, effectiveness and efficiency. The influencing factors' theoretical framework covers eight dimensions, namely digital platform, database resources, staff, management, funding, technology, users, and macro-environment. This encompasses 20 main categories such as data structure, institutional design, and staff philosophy, involving three mechanisms of operation: drivers, opportunities, and abilities.
