Within the iSchools community, early career researchers (ECRs) play a significant role because they represent the prospective academic leaders who will shape the future of the information field. This panel is organized by the Asia-Pacific iSchools Next Generation Committee, which consists of early career scholars who aim to maximize the visibility and communication of ECRs. It focuses on the exchange of ideas and thoughts between leading senior scholars and ECRs within the iSchools around academic career support and development. We will conduct presentations and discussions about the role of research funding as an external catalyst and research methods as an internal driver in fostering the development of early career researchers (ECRs). This panel will benefit the iSchools community in planning future support for ECRs’ career development and ought also to increase the cohesion and commitment of the community.
