The engagement of LIS stakeholders is critical as local contexts around the world all have unique expectations and infrastructures that guide the quality and development of LIS education for professional practice. The workshop will discuss all potential competencies of the engagement of LIS stakeholders while undertaking the new IFLA Guidelines for Professional Library and Information Science (LIS) Education Programmes. It is also important to consider similarities and differences with other LIS education standards/guidelines. After a brief presentation of the Guidelines and it's competencies defined, there will be small group discussions on the Guidelines’ definition of LIS and Foundational Knowledge Areas and their application, concluding with a critical response on translating ideas into action. All LIS stakeholders are welcomed.
