iSchools Community 2: Black Coalition - Social Justice Design: Actionable Strategies for Conducting Critical Research in LIS
Time:
Tuesday, 28/Mar/2023:
5:30pm - 7:00pm

Location: Room 10

Session Abstract

Using an Ignite format, this panel will present examples of social justice research in Library and Information Science (LIS) that acknowledge intersectionality. While social justice research in LIS has increased in recent years, few studies have explored actionable strategies for conducting this critical research (e.g., research that addresses inequities and systemic barriers and access to information). Each panelist will present empirical research and/or make a theoretical contribution. The Ignite approach provides participants five minutes to speak about their topic, accompanied by 15 slides. Each slide is displayed for 15 seconds, and slides are automatically advanced. This is followed by the Q&A session.
