This poster presents the concept of transitiance, capturing the unique experiential (translated from the Danish: oplevelsesbaserede) transition into the domain that psychologists inhabit when enacting or performing their professional being (translated from the Danish “væsen”) and means “det væsen man træder ind i” in practice. Transitiance is relevant not only in the time from student to professional life, but specifically in the shifting moments where a person enters and exits their professional social role. Transitiance is different from transience, where transitiance highlight the process of be-coming and de-coming as an on-going premise of professionalism in practice and opens the dynamic view on constant regulation of self as it enters into social role of professional. Transitiance refers to the ongoing, micro-dynamic process in which an individual continuously shifts between I-positions that regulate self into private and professional self-positions. The concept captures how the professional essence – or "substance" – is not perceived as a static, separate identity, but rather as a continuum, where identities and positions flow in and out of each other in small, situational transitions. Transitiance differs from classical transition theories by focusing on the subtle, recurring, and often brief shifts where the professional and the personal not only coexist but are actively negotiated and adjusted in practice (rapid yet stability).

Central to the definition of transitiance is, that moving through education towards professional is not one major life transition, but a constant phenomenon characterized by repeated and often invisible, small shifts between positions and substance. The concept is based on a dynamic, processual understanding of professionalism, where professionalism is continuously in and out of "focus" depending on eg. context and interaction/relation.
