Comparison of Self-Reported and Accelerometer-Measured Physical Activity in Slovene Adults University of Ljubljana, Faculty of sport, Slovenia Physical activity (PA) is one of the key factors influencing individual health. Consequently, many health initiatives and guidelines rely on PA data obtained using various measurement methods. However, different methods of PA assessment may produce varying results across different groups and populations. A total of 306 healthy Slovene adults participated in the study. As subjective measures of PA, three of the most widely used PA questionnaires (PAQs) in the European Union were employed: the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), and the Physical Activity Questionnaire from the European Health Interview Survey (EHIS-PAQ). UKK RM42 accelerometers were used as the objective measure of PA. The results showed that participants in the Slovene sample overreported their PA when using PAQs compared with accelerometer-based measurements. Equivalence testing indicated that PA estimates obtained using the EHIS-PAQ were comparable to those measured by accelerometers, whereas results from the IPAQ and GPAQ differed significantly from the objective measurements. Additionally, when comparing participants with high and low fitness levels, individuals in the low-fitness group demonstrated greater levels of overreporting. Physical activity questionnaires remain a valuable tool for assessing physical activity; however, their results should be interpreted with caution. The findings suggest that the choice of measurement method should be carefully considered with respect to the target population and the type of information required. Differences in reporting patterns were observed between participant groups, with more physically fit individuals showing the lowest levels of overreporting. 11:25am - 11:35am
A digital sleep diary to improve 24-hour movement behaviours research in a Belgian population study Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, Sciensano (Belgian Scientific Institute of Public Health), Brussels, Belgium Sleep is commonly assessed using paper diaries in 24-hour movement behaviours research. However, paper diaries are increasingly considered outdated, are prone to recall bias, and require manual data entry. Missing data are also common, which can compromise the combination between sleep and accelerometer data. To overcome these limitations, this project uses a smartphone application (m-Path) to collect sleep diaries in the context of a 24-hour movement behaviours population study. Methods: In 2026, 1200 adults aged 20-69 living in Belgium are being asked to wear 2 accelerometers and provide information on their sleep for 7 consecutive days, via a paper diary or m-Path. During a home visit, interviewers install m-Path on participants’ smartphones following a standardised protocol. Sleep diary entries are delivered through scheduled notifications adapted to participants’ potential wake times. Quality indicators include researcher burden, completion rates and moments, and usability perspectives (notification and direct messaging systems). Results: Preliminary results indicate that 90% of participants chose the application. Real-time monitoring allows to reduce non-response via a direct messaging system to the participants. The in-built notification system provides higher control over completion moment, reducing recall bias. Research burden is low, despite more time dedicated to real-time monitoring. Further analyses will compare data quality between the paper and application-based diaries. Conclusions: m-Path may offer a scalable and efficient alternative to paper sleep diaries in adult population studies. Its use could reduce researcher workload, improve data completeness, and support more accurate integration of sleep within 24-hour movement behaviours surveillance and research. 11:35am - 11:45am

Green Prescriptions for Noncommunicable Disease Prevention: Integrating Urban Nature into the 24-Hour Movement Framework 1: Osh State University, Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic); 2: CHU Mohammed VI, Marrakech, Morocco Purpose: Green prescriptions, a clinician-approved recommendations for engagement in nature-based physical activity are increasingly recognised as a low-cost and promising strategy for the prevention of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). This study synthesised existing evidence on green prescriptions and examined how urban green spaces can be operationalised within the 24-hour movement behaviour framework, encompassing physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep. The impact of sleep duration on overweight and obesity in adolescents in the context of 24-hour movement behaviour National Institute of Public Health, Slovenia Existing preventive interventions for obesity often neglect a key component of the 24-h movement profile: sleep. Hormonal changes due to lack of sleep lead to increased hunger, appetite and increase in calorie intake. Prioritizing sufficient sleep during childhood and adolescence is crucial for both immediate metabolic health and long-term obesity prevention. Our hypothesis was that sleep is an important component in the association between 24-hour movement profile and overweight. We analysed data from Slovenian Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study 2018. The observed population included 7449 adolescents (3707 girls and 3742 boys) aged 11, 13, 15 and 17. We performed a multivariate analysis using the logistic regression method. The observed outcome was overweight and obesity, the explanatory variable was sleep duration during the school week, and the confounding variables were gender, family socioeconomic status, physical activity and sedentary behaviour during the school week. Those who sleep less than the recommended amount for their age during the school week have a 1.3 times greater likelihood of being overweight or obese (OR = 1.27, 95% CI: 1.11-1.46, p = 0.001). The result is adjusted for confounding factors. Sleep as a key component of the 24-h movement behaviour plays an important role in overweight and obesity in adolescents. Even when adolescents are regularly physically active and report moderate sedentary behaviour, insufficient sleep increases their risk of overweight and obesity. Promoting good sleep hygiene and adequate sleep should be a main focus of all interventions aimed at reducing and preventing obesity in adolescents. 11:58am - 12:01pm
Access to Urban Green Spaces and Adherence to 24-Hour Movement Behaviour Guidelines Among School-Aged Children in Urban vs. Rural Settings in Kyrgyzstan: A Scoping Review Osh State University, Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic) Purpose: Green prescriptions, recommendations endorsed by clinicians to undertake activities involving nature-based physical activity, have become one of the most affordable and potentially effective approaches towards prevention of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in children. The purpose of the research was to determine implementation avenues, health outcomes (e.g., decreased risk of obesity, mental health improvement), region differences, and equity aspects applicable to primary care, school-based and city policy in low- and middle-income countries i,e. Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia. Methods: This systematic scoping review followed PRISMA-ScR guidelines. PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Embase were searched for 2010–2025 papers on green space access, urban/rural parks, nature-based physical activity, or outdoor activity among school-aged children. Following the screening of titles and abstracts, 66 full-text publications were evaluated; 27 study of experimental, observational, and implementation studies primarily with LMICs, Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan were included in the study. Result: In most papers, living near parks was connected to greater moderate-vigorous physical activity and less inactive leisure time. Some research also found that nature exposure improved sleep quality and duration. Clinician-led green prescriptions, school-based outdoor programs, and standardized access policies helped reduce inequity in LMICs, where urbanization reduces green space and increases NCDs like childhood obesity. Conclusions: This research reveals that long-term, ecologically friendly, and equitable access to urban green space improves 24-hour movement behavior delivery and NCD prevention in school-aged children. Green primary healthcare and school-based programs supported by equitable access urban planning policies would strengthen the 24-hour movement, encourage lifestyle changes, and strengthen communities. 12:01pm - 12:04pm
Sleep in the Context of 24-Hour Movement Behavior: A Study of Slovenian Adolescents 1: National Institut of Public Health of Slovenia, Slovenia; 2: Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia Sleep represents a fundamental pillar of health and one of the key elements of 24-hour movement behaviour, yet remains understudied in Slovenian adolescents. This study examined sleep habits and psychosocial determinants of healthy sleep among 13-year-olds in Celje Municipality, utilizing newly translated and validated Slovenian questionnaires. The research aimed to provide foundations for developing public health interventions addressing adolescent sleep health within the framework of 24-hour movement behavior. Methods We translated, culturally adapted, and validated two questionnaires: the Pediatric Sleep Practices Questionnaire (PSPQ) and the Psychosocial Determinants of Sleep Behavior and Healthy Sleep (PSD) questionnaire. They were used in cross-sectional epidemiological study among eighth-graders (N=356, mean age 13.4±0.55 years, 49.2% female) from Celje Municipality in February 2024. Participants completed the validated NASPAN.si questionnaire assessing sleep practices, psychosocial determinants, and 24-hour movement behaviors. Results Both Slovenian questionnaires demonstrated adequate content validity (CVR>0.59, CVI>0.78, FVI>0.50) and internal consistency (PSPQ-SI: Cronbach's α=0.702, λ₂=0.732; PSD-SI: Cronbach's α=0.798, λ₂=0.818). Two-thirds (66.5%) of adolescents reported insufficient sleep time during school days, with 68.0% exhibiting late or very late bedtimes and 39.3% demonstrated significant weekend sleep extension (>2 hour). Only 29.3% met physical activity guidelines, while 58.6% exceeded screen time recommendations on school days. Conclusions This study confirms that insufficient sleep represents a public health challenge among adolescents, intrinsically linked to excessive screen time and inadequate physical activity. The validated Slovenian questionnaires enable systematic monitoring and provide foundations for evidence-based, multi-sectoral interventions targeting adolescents, parents, and educators to promote healthy sleep habits and balanced daily movement behaviors. 12:04pm - 12:14pm

Physical Activity Level Measured by Devices among Urban Population in Country of Georgia, 2024 1: National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Tbilisi, Georgia; 2: World Health Organization Country Office, Georgia; 3: University of Wollongong, Australia; 4: Division of Prevention and Health Promotion, World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe Introduction Physical activity (PA) is key to preventing diseases, especially cardiovascular conditions, yet it is difficult to measure accurately through self-report. This is the first study in Georgia to determine feasibility of accelerometers use to objectively measure PA as part of the WHO STEPS survey. Methods Between February and March 2024, 306 adults aged 18-69 in Tbilisi were recruited by convenience sampling from the interviewers’ social circles. Among them, PA was measured using wrist-worn Axivity AX3 accelerometers for 7 consecutive days. Sociodemographic data were collected via interview and accelerometer data analyzed using R GGIR package. Results Accelerometer was worn four days of more among 288 participants (94.1% response rate). Their mean age was 47.7 years (SD = 15.5), and the majority were female (76.0%). The overall mean daily moderate to vigorous PA (MVPA) was 100.9 minutes (± 95%CI 91.4-110.4) and 96.9% of participants met the WHO recommendation of 150 minutes of moderate PA per week or equivalent amount of MVPA. Participants aged 18-29 had the highest mean daily MVPA (119.5 (± 95%CI 100.5-138.5) while those aged 60-69 had the lowest (79.6 (± 95%CI 65.1-94.1). Females had higher daily MVPA than males (103.0 vs. 94.2 minutes; p value = 0.44). Discussion This pilot study showed that objective measurement of PA is feasible in Georgia as part of the WHO STEPS survey. Large majority of participants attained the WHO recommendation for daily MVPA. Objective measurement of PA using accelerometers in a nationally representative sample is needed to determine true prevalence of insufficient PA in Georgia. | ||
