Gro Shetelig Professor Emerita in Ear Training/ Aural Skills at the Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo until 2017, and the Arctic University in Tromsø until 2022. Presently Guest Professor in Parma, Italy at a Master program in Aural skills & Methodology. She received her music education in Oslo, Norway (Advanced Piano Teacher Certificate) and at Oberlin College in Ohio, USA (MB Piano performance), and has been a soloist with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. After USA she entered Graduate studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where she was awarded her Diploma Degree in Music Theory, specializing in Aural Skills (1975). Ever since graduation she had been employed at the Norwegian Academy of Music, teaching Aural Skills, Listening, Rhythmic Training and Aural Methodology. She has published several textbooks in - and on methods of Ear training - Hører du? and Hva hører du? (Gyldendal, Oslo) and is co-author in the Scandinavian collaborate project, “Listen to Scandinavia – a textbook in the art of Listening” (Wilhelm Hansen, Copenhagen), based on a wide range of works by Nordic composers from the 20th Century. She is part of the research group project "Concrescence" (initiated and led by Professor/composer Lasse Thoresen), developing methods in teaching Micro-tonality for Singers, including several workshops with project partner Latvia Radio Choir between 2008 - 2010, leading to their world premiere of 6 microtonal works in Oslo and Riga in 2010.  
She has had numerous engagements as Guest lecturer, as well as leading seminars and workshops for music teachers, choirs and conductors in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Georgia, South Africa, USA, Estonia, and Italy. She has had several engagements in Radio and Television; as jury member in several music competitions, hosting music programs in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK); and during the 1990’s she was on the Norwegian team in the Nordic TV contest in classical music 'Kontrapunkt' during three seasons.
