B. Industry symposium 2: URGO: Continuous Integral Debridement: A breakthrough in managing slough

Speakers: Dr Paulo Alves, PhD, MSc, RN, Porto – Portugal Dr Dieter Mayer, Vascular Surgeon, Zürich – Switzerland Kate Moran, Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist – Western Health & Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland- This symposium will explore the critical role of slough in impaired wound healing and introduce Continuous Integral Debridement as an innovative and practical approach to its management with Urgo Medical products. The session will begin with an overview of slough, its pathophysiology, and the challenges it represents in wound care, presented by Paulo Alvès. Dieter Mayer will then introduce the concepts of Integral Debridement and Continuous Integral Debridement, highlighting how this cyclical, proactive approach can improve wound bed preparation. Finally, Kate Moran will share real-world clinical experience in managing slough in pressure ulcers, illustrating the benefits of this approach in daily practice. Together, these expert perspectives will provide both scientific insight and practical guidance to support improved wound healing outcomes across a wide range of patients.
