This repositioning workshop provides a practical overview of key strategies for preventing pressure ulcers. It begins with a short introduction to core concepts, including bed and seated repositioning, guideline recommendations, and the impact of pressure, shear, and friction.

Speakers: Prof. Keryln Carville, Ms. Chin-Wen Shiao, Ms. Chancey Hsueh, Mr. Dennis Lee This symposium will address one of the key challenges in pressure injury prevention: sustaining turning and repositioning in daily practice. It will focus on critical care in hospital settings and palliative care in both hospital and home care settings, where clinical complexity and care conditions can make consistent repositioning difficult. The symposium will discuss how a turn-assisted support surface may help sustain repositioning practice, and its potential impact on workflow, support for caregivers, and quality of care. It will also include an industry perspective on how innovation can address unmet needs in pressure injury prevention.

It also requires clinical judgment and a clear understanding of the patient’s changing needs. This workshop focuses on practical decision-making in support surface use, including how to support patients in different postures while helping them feel comfortable, protected and appropriately positioned.

Berman Chair in Vascular Bioengineering, School of Biomedical Engineering , Faculty of Engineering Tel Aviv University Despite clear clinical guidelines, preventable pressure injuries continue to affect patients across Europe. This session looks at why that gap persists — from the everyday decision clinicians face to the biomechanical evidence behind how modern dressing technology protects vulnerable tissue, to real clinical cases comparing prevention and treatment side by side. A practical, evidence-based look at closing the distance between what we know and what we do in pressure injury care.

For many years, EPUAP has supported the development of the International Prevention and Treatment of PU Clinical Practice Guideline. While these guidelines inform clinical decision-making, they must be implemented to improve care and outcomes. This workshop will explore strategies for translating guideline into clinical practice.

Learning objectives: Review the latest evidence and best practices for implementing and sustaining hospital-wide pressure injury prevention (PIP) programmes. Identify key clinical, operational, and organisational barriers to pressure injury prevention and evaluate strategies to overcome them. Assess the clinical and economic impact of pressure injuries, including the value of prevention strategies and the role of prophylactic dressings in at-risk patient Apply practical insights and quality improvement strategies to strengthen pressure injury prevention efforts and improve patient outcomes within their own healthcare settings.
