Keynote Address

Professor Douglas W. Diamond will be the Keynote Speaker at the EFA 51st Annual Meeting.

The Long and Short of Financial Development: Pledgeability and the Production of Financial Assets

Short-term investment is intrinsically less productive than long, but its returns may be more pledgeable to outside investors, reducing the ability to fund long-term projects in economies with limited financial development.  Financial development that improves pledgeability has surprising effects on investment in short-term and long-term real and financial assets and the return to producing financial assets.
